Preview | Drawing & Painting People, Part 2: Anatomy of the Body with John Raynes

“As artists we can never exhaust the possibilities of drawing and painting the human figure. The human figure is capable of a large variety of movements, but there are some limitations imposed by the interior skeleton.” John Raynes helps you understand and work with these limitations as he returns to artistsnetwork.tv for Part 2 of his “Drawing & Painting People” series, Anatomy of the Body, helping you create realistic and expressive figures. In this 81 minute video workshop he discusses the important points of anatomy that affect the way a person looks on the surface, then sketches standing and reclining figures from life with a variety of dry medium, finishing up to paint a reclining figure with oil.

In this preview, John sketches a standing figure to demonstrate the main anatomical points needed to define and give realistic shape to your figure.

Learn how to Face Paint – tiger and butterfly by Mont Marte

General Usage

Always dampen your brush before you dip into the pigment. Make sure your brush is clean to avoid cross colour contamination. Colours are brighter and more vibrant when used alone. Colours can be lightened with water. Colours can be mixed. Colours are very strong so a light coat is usually preferred. For multiple layers a thin layer must be put down first then a thick dryish layer on top.

• Water based
• Non Toxic
• Cosmetic grade ingredients

At Mont Marte we believe “art should be available for everyone to enjoy” and that’s what we set about doing.
Over the past 10 years with those words echoing in our ears we have expanded from a few basic art lines to build a comprehensive range of quality art products that just about anyone can afford and enjoy.

We are all committed to our core belief that “”art should be available for everyone to enjoy” and that means worldwide, not just in Australia.
