Painting a Sailboat with Acrylics – Paint with Ryan

In today’s acrylic painting tutorial we paint a seascape depicting a sailboat out on the reflective water. This relaxing painting lesson is completed for the most part in real time and will cover the step by step process of how to paint clouds, a sunset, a sailboat, water, small waves and a warm afternoon scene. Learn How to Paint BEACH FLIGHT KITE with Acrylic – Paint and Sip at Home – Step by Step Tutorial

VIDEO DESCRIPTION This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this summer inspired coastal image of “BEACH FLIGHT KITE” with a stunning dusk glow in the sunset sky that is reflecting in the shallow water of the waves rolling into the shore while a young girl runs with her colorful kite in hopes of catching the last good wind to set her kit in flight. You’ll learn simple painting techniques that will help you to create this realistic piece of art with a woman with long wavy hair wearing a flowing white beach dress running through the beach sand with sand dunes just beyond her path. Holding onto her brightly striped cloth kite, she’ll soon let go of it and set it free like a beautiful bird. You’ll learn to draw basic outline of a female figure that gives form and shape to the body beneath the clothes. With a dry brush technique you’ll learn how to create dimension and reflections on the water with subtle blending of the surrounding colors and properly placed highlights and shadows. The strong posture of this girl and the flow of her dress, hair and fabric in the kite and movement to this painting that make you want to run along side her during this warm summer evening. Inspired by my desire to run on the beach in Cape Cod right now hoping that a warm summer breeze will be be right around the corner! You’ll learn to paint this realistic landscape with depth and contrast. 1. 1/2 bristle brush – Paint sky with white, yellow, orange and blue
2. 1/2 bristle brush – Paint 1st layer of sand and water with black, brown and white
3. 1/2 bristle brush – Create area for water with brown, black, blue, green, yellow, orange and white
4. 1/2 bristle brush – Paint sand dunes with black, brown, white, orange and yellow
5. 1/2 bristle brush – Finish water with brown, black, blue, green, yellow, orange and white

7. #4 round brush – Paint skin with brown, orange and white

This video is only a highlight of some of the Creative Camouflage BodyPaintings I have created around Europe. From the first few camouflages I created at Johannes Stötter’s Workshop and my Camouflage Collaboration with Jaana Veronika at Bella Vollen’s Workshop. You will also see the bts video for the Double Camouflage I created for the cover of Mushroom Magazine’s Winter Edition 2017. As well as the Camouflage bts video for Home is Life, my personal favourite Camouflage from SumBodyArt’s Home Exhibition.
I look forward to more divine projects to come for the future.

Thanks to all the artists and models that have worked with me over the last 8 years in Australia and around Europe. BodyPainting has brought me many great friends from around the world, I have found love, inspirations and healing though my Bodypainting as an Artist and Model. It is time for me to share my story back home in Australia. 🙂

I am feeling happy to announce that Sum Body Art, I will not only be having my home coming in Australia. But I will also be an instructor for the Australian Body Art Awards and Conventions from 20th-21st March in Melbourne. I will be sharing my story for BodyPainting in Australia, Europe and Beyond as a BodyPainter and Model. In addition, I will also be creating a UV Bodypainting Demo with Performance SumBodyArt Style for Day 1and a Creative Camouflage for Day 2.
The whole event will be from 19th-23rd March featuring 25 awesome Local and Internatonal Instructors, each teaching 2 x 90 min classes. Dutch Arron Bihary, Nancy Wu, Arjhay De Leon Jr., Maria Mormile Abaa, Wendy Fantasia Artist, Dale Proposch just to name a few. It will be lots of fun and a colourful event, and must do for Art Lovers!

In this video art lesson I cover acrylic techniques on how to paint the textures in the water as well as the fine details in the foreground. I also cover how to paint the sunset. I used various paint brushes which I cover throughout the video lesson.

Cookies and Canvas for Kids – Happy Goldfish painting lesson with yummy cookie recipe!

This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this extremely fun “Happy Goldfish” swimming through tropical water with brightly colored butterfly fins, big googly eyes, and an expressive mouth. Using only 3 brushes and 7 colors we’ll create an energetic painting of this joyful aquatic creature. You’ll learn how to paint ocean water with ripples, use bright colors to add dimension to the fins and body, and how to paint eyes that have life in them. So come discover your inner artist and let’s paint our canvas and eat some cookies!



Canvas: 16×20 stretched primed canvas
Brushes: 1/2 inch flat bristle brush, #12 round, #2 round brush
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, cobalt blue, phthalo green, chrome yellow, fluorescent orange, fire red, mars black
Other: #2 pencil, palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

1. #2 pencil – Draw outline of fish
2. 1/2 inch bristle brush – Paint the water with white, blue and green
3. #2 round brush – Paint first layer of the moth and eyes with black and white
4. #12 round brush – Paint the fins with white, yellow, orange and red
5. #12 round brush – Paint the body and head with white, yellow, orange and red
6. #2 round brush – Finish painting the eyes with blue and white
7. #2 round brush – Signature with black

NUTTY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES – Prep Time 10 minutes / Cook Time 8-10 minutes
1 cup salted butter softened
1 cup white (granulated) sugar
1 cup light brown sugar packed
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt
2 cups chocolate chips (or chunks, or chopped chocolate)
1 cup crushed peanuts

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
2. In a separate bowl mix flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder. Set aside.
3. Cream together butter and sugars until combined.
4. Beat in eggs and vanilla until fluffy.
5. Mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
6. Add chocolate chips and nuts and mix well.
7. Roll 2-3 TBS of dough into balls and place them evenly spaced on your prepared cookie sheets.
8. Bake in preheated oven for approximately 8-10 minutes. Take them out when they are just BARELY starting to turn brown.
9. Let them sit on the baking pan for 2 minutes before removing to cooling rack.
